my Camera equipment

I am not a professional by ANY means of the word, but I do LOVE photography. When I say photography I mean photos of the cutest little boy and all of his friends. I’ve had a few questions lately about what I use….Here it is! There are links to where to find them. I really love my Canon, but the Nikon is equivalent. Either you are a canon girl or a Nikon girl…guess I chose canon. I say SKIP the kit lense (wish I would have) and get this lense below! It’s SUPER cheap and amazing! Also, the hood that goes on it makes all of my pictures seem so much brighter without any editing. I hardly have to edit my pictures anymore. The hood was a recommendation from my girl, Holly. I HATE to pick up my little point and shoot camera now because the quality is just so lacking. This camera is big and bulky, but you get used to it. Please let me know if you decide to get one….

If you have any good tips please let me know! I always love to hear how to do something different to get a great photo. I still have soo much to learn! Oh, and I also have a zoom lense that is really cool! My father-in-law gave it to us, but I haven’t had the chance to play with it too much…this summer will be the perfect opportunity with all of our outside play!

I actually have the Nikon D40 (think Ashton Kutcher). I got it about 2 years ago. You can now get it for just under $500. I got mine as a kit. Love it. Can't say I am either a Canon or a Nikon gal but I believe mine was rated in the top 3 for that year for the amateur. It was the best bang for the buck at the time. I believe I read somewhere, after I purchased my camera, that of which I am bummed about, is that the Canon's can actually use the Nikon lenses but not vise versa. You can really get some cool effects from different filters. I need to invest in getting more. I don't nearly take as many photos as you Katie, probably because I was the product of 2 professional photographers and had a camera in my face as a kid constantly growing up. I like quality and can definitely say that once you get an SLR there is no comparison. However, I did purchase a little point and shoot after getting the SLR more for convenience sake. An SLR is a bit bulky sometimes that it is nice to just throw a little camera in your purse and go. Still, the quality doesn't even come close to my SLR.

We got this camera at the beginning of the year, and I love it! Of course, my photography skills are no where close to yours! :) I actually haven't learned how to use the camera much because my hubby likes to use it so much, so I use our little cybershot a lot still (easier to carry). I hope to get better with our nicer camera before Baby #2 arrives though. We are looking at getting a zoom lense soon. If you have any tips to share, I'd love to hear them!!

I am a canon girl-but I am still stuck on the Power Shot-I really want to get the Rebel but then I remember that I am supposed to be saving for a home! Priorities! I love the pics you take of Cole. But then again-Cole is a great subject!

I have a D50 which I love. We got it back in 2006 and I can't stand point and shoot quality. I want to get a better strap though, I have to find that post of yours again. And I definitely need to look into getting a hood! Hope they make one for the lenses I have...

I have the lens it came with and additional zoom lense, my SIL who is a professional gave it to us, I have no idea what it's called. I use the zoom lens most so I can catch Big K in action but I don't have to get close and interupt.

A little late I know - but I too am a Canon girl. I currently have 3 of them! My favourite of all is my new EOS 40D - it is amazing! (we also elected not to go with the kit lenses and are happy with that decision). Still haven't delved much into the world of manual mode - but getting there. When I get a bit of spare time I have fun looking for photography tips online and "I think" I am getting better shots for it....I & think being the operative words - hehe!
